Criminal penalties for illicit operations of drug manufacturers

A lot of pharmaceutical companies violate laws. But just some of them are punished harshly. A lot of pharmaceutical companies avoid harsh penalties successfully. But only when serious scandals are caused by illegal actions of pharmaceutical companies, they are sentenced to proper punishments. Of course, owners and officers of the company will be sanctioned properly. But when illegal operations of drug manufacturers don’t result in such serious problems, they continue with their business successfully.
The media reports about illegal actions linked with anabolic steroids, painkillers and other prescription medications daily. But you may see that pharmaceutical companies get only light sentencing for illicit sale of steroids and other doping products. So, athletes and bodybuilders have free access to doping products. They acquire anabolic steroids and other related medications from compounding pharmacies and use them for athletic needs. Furthermore, several pharmaceutical companies provide fake prescriptions for steroids. Corrupt physicians supply customers of pharmacies with prescriptions that are given without required evaluation of customers’ individual conditions.
Compounding pharmacies are responsible not only for illicit distribution of steroids. Certain pharmaceutical companies produce medicines in unsterile conditions. As a result, many individuals get tainted medicines and suffer from severe complications, using  these products. Some individuals even die from contamination resulted from application of contaminated medications. As you are probably informed, 39 individuals died because of fungal meningitis caused by contaminated methylprednisolone acetate injections.
The late contamination with fungal meningitis should have an impact on decisions of appropriate authorities. Criminal sanctions should take place. Otherwise, health of many individuals is in a serious danger. Prescription medicines must be sold just under real prescriptions. All products must be manufactured in sterile conditions. If compounding pharmacies don’t obey all laws, they must be punished. They must not be permitted to continue with business, if they violate laws. Loss of licenses should be accompanied by other serious sanctions.
