Bacterial contaminants are found at NECC

It is widely discussed about the meningitis outbreak that has occurred in some states of America. Contaminated Methylprednisolone Acetate injections led to fungal meningitis in more than 500 individuals. The contamination turned out to be tragic for 39 patients: they died. The majority of deaths took place in Tennessee.
It was claimed that contaminated steroid injections had been produced by the New England Compounding Center (NECC) which is located in Massachusetts. The FDA tested the compounding center in order to set what resulted in contamination and see the situation at the NECC. It was affirmed by the FDA that the contaminated steroid injections were really manufactured by this compounding pharmacy.
According to the Associated Press, the FDA claimed that it was evident that manufacture of preparations was unsterile at the NECC. The FDA noticed that leaking water and uncontrolled temperature were just several problems at the company. The equipment used for manufacture of solution for injections was unsterile.
Furthermore, the FDA stated that there were certain other contaminants. Several bacterial contaminants were found at the compounding center. Although these contaminants were not real pathogens, they could cause infection as well. These bacterial contaminants were found in such drugs, as Betamethasone and Triamcinolone. There were not any cases reported about contamination resulted from application of these products. But it was noted that these medicines were also able to lead to contamination. Although the bacterial contaminants were anywhere in the environment, they had not to be in preparations. This fact pointed at unsterile conditions at the pharmacy and confirmed that the Methylprednisolone Acetate injections turned out to be contaminated with fungal meningitis because they were manufactured in inappropriate conditions.
The situation made it clear that new rules on pharmacies should be established. Contamination should be prevented. Otherwise, public health is in danger in the USA.
