Dana White doesn’t have harsh words for fighters that use steroids for clinical needs

Intake of steroids for testosterone replacement therapy by sportsmen is a controversial issue. There are many debates linked with it. It is known by everyone that steroids and some other related medicines are forbidden in many sports organizations. But if a person should take these drugs under indications of his/her doctor for medical purposes, he/she should obtain a therapeutic use exemption. However it is allowed to take even anabolic steroids for medical purposes, such sportspersons are frequently demonized and named “cheaters”. Actually, it is not fair.
What does Dana White, the UFC president, state about intake of steroids for testosterone replacement therapy? Does he blame fighters that apply steroids in order to increase their decreased levels of testosterone? The UFC president claims that any person with hypogonadism should administer steroids, if these medications are recommended by his doctor. However it is fair, let notice why some sportspersons suffer from low testosterone levels. It is proven scientifically that steroid abuse may lead to suppression of natural testosterone secretion. Thus, certain fighters and other sportspersons that have applied previously steroids for athletic purposes may experience hypogonadism. Hence, their physicians prescribe them taking some steroids in order to enhance their testosterone levels.
According to Dana White, testosterone replacement therapy is legal for all men, including professional athletes. So, if any sportsman suffers from hypogonadism, he should be allowed to administer steroids prescribed by his health care provider. He should reach normal testosterone levels that characterize any healthy man of his age.
But the UFC president makes it clear that any fighter or another athlete that takes anabolic steroids and/or other banned medicines for athletic needs must be sentenced to suspensions. It is necessary to make difference between those that administer steroids for medical purposes and those that want to obtain muscle mass and strength with the help these medications. No one is allowed to apply anabolic steroids for athletic purposes. It is forbidden in sports. Those that break anti-doping rules should be sanctioned. Sports must be drug-free.
It seems to be surprising that affirmations of Dana White differ substantially from statements presented by anti-doping officers. As you know, words of several anti-doping officials for steroid users are much harsher than those pronounced by Dana White.
